My hobby is watching movies, so I usually watch them on TV or go to the cinema in my free time. I prefer foreign movies to Japanese movies. “Sweeney Todd” is my favorite. Last year, I watched it with a friend, because it was one of the most popular movies in Japan. It was very interesting, so both of us found it very touching. The story and actors and actresses who appeared in it were great.
Above all, I was so glad that the main actor
was Johny Depp.He is a really great actor. Recently, “Sweeney Todd” received a Best Picture Oscar nomination. I think it one of the greatest movies that I have ever seen.
The story was mainly sad and there was a dark humor. Basically, it had a gothic theme. Of course, as too much blood flew and splattered, it looked very unreal to me. The main character, Sweeney Todd ran his barbershop. One day, his wife was violated and his daughter was snatched by someone. For this reason, he lost his family, and he became a serial murderer for revenge. I was very surprised that Sweeney Todd was a real murderer in London, and there is a real Fleet Street now. I have heard that every year, a lot of tourists visit London to see the street.
As for the main actor, Johnny Depp was Sweeney Todd. Of course his real identity was the famous barber on Fleet Street. This movie was set in England, so he studied British English hard, because his English was American. At first, he could not speak British English, but he learned to speak it nicely after practicing it until he mastered it. He was a hard worker. He is completely actable in this movie. In addition to a great actor, he is a great musician. I really like his music. He was a very talented person, so Johnny Depp is one of my favorite actors. I always respect him. His works are all wonderful, like “Pirates of the Caribbean”. I think Sweeney Todd is the greatest movie in his works.
The main attraction of this movie was the singing and nice music, because it was basically musical. In some parts of it, you could listen to them. My favorite song was “My friends”. If you watched it, you could listen to the song. This song has rhythmical sound. Do not forget to see Johny Depp sing. He sings well actually, and Mrs. Lovette who was a sub character sang very well too. They were very good at singing in this movie.
I would definitely recommend this movie, because I appreciate the nice music and the lyrical writing. The story is sad and there is dark humor, but it is a great movie. Because it consists of interesting story and great actors and actresses appear in it. You will never regret watching it. Recently, DVD rental began, so I want to watch it again in my free time.
